Ahmed Al Hassoni is a graduated perfumer based in Dubai, trained at the Grasse Institute of Perfumery in France. He started his fragrance career in 2019 by hand-pouring luxury candles in Dubai alongside his wife under the Belles Âmes name — a small-batch, cruelty-free and vegan candle house built around certified coconut wax and oils from the finest fragrance houses. From that workshop he went on to found CandleStart, Dubai's first candle and perfume-making supply hub, which today supplies certified waxes with full COA, IFRA-compliant fragrance oils, wicks and vessels to makers across the GCC. CandleStart remains the only supplier of certified wax with COA in the region. He is the founder of three software ventures serving the global fragrance industry: Olfactal, an all-in-one formulation, inventory and IFRA-compliance platform for perfumers; ScentDesk, a free and open-source real-time intelligence terminal covering IFRA regulation, market data and trends for a $125B+ global market; and WaxHippo, an operating platform for candle makers co-founded with Abed from WickMagic.com in Lebanon. Through his white-label and private-label work, Ahmed has made bespoke candles and scent programmes on past project engagements for brands including Kayali, Chanel, Netflix, Porsche and Eucerin — completed project work rather than an ongoing supplier relationship. He has been featured by The Fragrance Foundation and publishes hands-on craft and industry commentary under the Candle Man Dubai name on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.
